Instructors:
John
Cazes, Ph.D.
Deputy
Director, HPC Group, Texas Advanced Computing Center
John
Cazes is the deputy director of the HPC group at the Texas Advanced Computing
Center (TACC). He is also the lead for the Community Codes area in the
Extended Collaborative Support Service component of the NSF Extreme Science and
Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) program. Dr. Cazes relies on
his background in HPC, astrophysics, and climate/weather/ocean modeling to
support the wide variety of researchers on TACC resources. His primary
research interests are parallel I/O and advanced architectures.
Kent Milfeld, Ph.D.
Performance and Architecture, HPC Group, Texas Advanced Computing Center
Kent Milfeld works in the HPC Performance and Architecture group at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC). Over the last 30+ years at the center, Dr. Milfeld has fulfilled many roles at TACC, including directing HPC training programs, teaching Computational Chemistry and HPC courses in the UT Chemistry and CS Departments, organizing conferences, consulting, and collaborating on computational projects with fellow colleagues within NSF, DoD and DOE programs, and at UT institutions such as the Institute for Advance Technology (IAT). Recent topics of interest include Affinity (amask utility), Interactive Development HPC access (idev utility), and OpenMP programming. Dr. Milfeld is a member of the OpenMP Language committee.
