Description:

In this session, you will learn how to use NCSA's Delta supercomputer. It will cover Delta's advanced architecture designed to support a wide range of scientific domains, particularly those that benefit from GPU acceleration, such as machine learning. Hands-on exercises will teach how to access Delta, manage the user environment, and run jobs and software.

This session consists of three sections:

  1. A presentation introducing the Delta's technical and physical resources, capabilities, and organization 
  2. Hands-on exercises teaching how to access Delta, manage its programming environment, and run jobs/software
  3. Q&A session

Learning Objectives:

After completing this session, you will be able to:

  • Request an account on Delta.
  • Connect to Delta.
  • Transfer files between Delta and your local workstation.
  • Manage your files on the available filesystems.
  • Customize your computing environment.
  • Submit a job to the job scheduler using a batch script.
  • Monitor the status of your job.
  • Log in to Delta Open OnDemand.
