John Cazes is the director of the HPC group at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC). Dr. Cazes is also a member of the Extended Collaborative Support Service group in the NSF Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE) program. Dr. Cazes relies on his background in HPC, astrophysics, and climate/weather/ocean modeling to support the wide variety of researchers on TACC resources. His primary research interests are parallel I/O and advanced architectures.
In this talk, Dr. Cazes will introduce conquering big data using high-performance computing. The talk will also cover some of the best practices and strategies for the efficient utilization of parallel file systems. Content on parallel I/O for improving application performance without overloading the parallel file system will also be included in the talk.
