Prepare for Deep Machine Learning (June 24, 9AM-12:15PM)

In preparation, it is very important that you please do the following: 

1. Ensure you have a recent version of the Chrome browser running on your laptop 
2. Ensure that you have access to a Google account. If you don’t already have one, you can set one up here. 
3. Ensure that you are able to access your Google Drive cloud via your Google account: Google Drive 
1. Sign in using the button in the top left corner with your Google Drive account, if not already signed in. 
4. Please learn the basics of Google Colaboratory 
1. Visit the Google Collaboratory website 
2. View the “Intro to Google Colab” video 
3. Read the brief Overview of Google Colaboratory 
5. Please transfer the workshop materials to (slides and code) from GitHub to your laptop or desktop by doing the following: 
1. Open the DL Workshop Materials on GitHub in your browser
2. Click the “Code” button and then “Download Zip” 
3. Open the zip files and explore the slides and code (be careful not to edit code)
6. Execute the Workshop Test to ensure that you are set up properly 
1. Open the Workshop_Test2020.ipynb file in Colab 

                                                              i.      Click File > Upload notebook

                                                            ii.      Drop Workshop_Test2020.ipynb onto the prompt window

2. Click on Runtime > Run all 
3. The program should output the following without any errors: (100000, 2)

You must run the Workshop_Test2020.ipynb before the workshop in order to know that you are prepared.  There will not be time to deal with individual technical issues on the morning of June 24!  If you encounter any issues or have any questions, feel free to contact me at danny.silver@acadiau.ca or come to see me when we are in Athens before June 23.
