As part of your IHPCSS experience, we ask that all participants prepare an electronic poster about their research for presentation.

Your poster should include:

  • A description of the research problem
  • Your progress to date
  • Planned next steps
  • Contact details
  • Emphasis on the HPC aspects of your work
  • A balance between text and visuals.  A picture can literally be worth a thousand words!

Remember that most of the attendees are familiar with HPC but not with your domain science, so be prepared to explain your contributions to someone outside your field.

You will be assigned either Thursday, July 22, or Wednesday, July 28 to present.  Poster sessions will be held in gather.town, and students will be able to virtually wander between posters, talking to presenters much like an in-person poster session.  When not presenting, we expect students to attend other poster sessions to learn about other attendees' work.

In addition, we ask that you record a brief video summarizing your poster. These videos will help other students get an overview of your work, so that interested students can plan to talk with you in more detail during the poster session. In preparing your recording, please observe the following guidelines:

  • Your videos should be no more than 3 minutes in length.
  • A good place to start is to summarize your abstract, remembering to emphasize the HPC aspects of your work.
  • You may show yourself, screen-share your poster, present a few slides, show a demo -- whatever visuals you think will best communicate your research.
  • Please make sure you have captioning turned on.

You MUST submit your electronic poster and video by July 9, 2021.  Posters should be in PNG or PDF format and no larger than 15 MB. Poster files must be saved to a file-sharing service such as Google Drive.   You may upload your video to any video-sharing service and share the URL with us.

Once you have created your poster files please add your poster information to the Student Posters Repository. Click 'Add Entry' and enter your poster title, abstract, the URL to your digital poster image, and the URL to your poster presentation video. (Note that you will not upload your poster files but instead provide a URL where the files can be found. For example, if you upload your video to YouTube enter the link to the video, and if you have your file in Google Drive enter the shareable link.)
